In the previous page we spoke about getting links to your site
from other sources. Now we will look at other ways to generate
traffic or sales.

This is more along the lines of direct marketing, and may not be
for everyone, but it is worth a try.

It is all about email marketing. You know those annoying emails
you get from everywhere offering you the latest information
product you have seen a thousand times? Yes those are the
ones - but with a difference.

You will not be sending out emails that are one long sales letter,
you will be sending out a series of 4 - 7 emails full of content,
which people have asked you to send to them.

You can sprinkle a plug or two for your latest product in the
emails if you wish, and you always finish with a reminder about
why they requested the email course, and sign off with a link to
your website.
Your emails should be no more than 500 words, and full of content, just like your website, and using the same
"voice" as your website. You can spend time making them pretty with html, but I recommend you send them as plain
text emails as many people have html for emails turned off - so why waste your time making it look pretty when at the
other end it is either plain text, or odd squiggles and boxes with the content lost to the html gods?
So how do you get the email addresses? You ask for them of course. On
your website you provide a feedback/contact us form and, if you have
your email course ready, you provide a sign up form for that too.

Needless to say any emails you receive, you keep the addresses for
your next marketing campaign.

I recommend reading the ebook Article Cash if you want to explore the
world of articles and email courses more fully.

Word of mouth and personal recommendation is naturally the best
marketing tool around. There isn't a lot you can do to encourage people
to talk about and recommend your site, other than to provide great
content.

If visitors find your site informative and interesting they will recommend it
to their friends, so once again, your content will do some of your most
important marketing for you.

I would like to recommend the video Free traffic Fast. It is a fairly new
product, and I found it very inspiring and useful. It will be well worth your
while watching.
Please remember marketing is a regular activity. You cant put
your site up and just sit back waiting for the money to roll in.

That is what I did with my death and dying website. The
money didn't roll in, although I did make $3 something in a
year.

More importantly though I learned a great lesson - content will
improve your page rank and bring you unexpected, unasked
for links without you doing a thing.

In the year I ignored my site, I had 3 pages make it to page 2
or 3 ranking on Google, and several links from sites which in
my opinion offered great content themselves.

So other authorities on the subject of death and dying
validated my content.

The lesson I want you to take from this page is that no matter
what you do to promote your site, great content will work for
you harder than anything else, while poor content will do the
opposite.

All your marketing efforts to promote your great content site will pay off and work hand in hand with the
content itself to ensure lots of traffic coming to your site.
